Small Cafe/diner in the warehouse area which is a short walk from the train station, street car and The Barnett Hotel. I would say classic diner fare and solid. Many locals recommended this place and it was a great find! Breakfast was perfect. Eggs cooked just as asked over medium for me. Hash browns classic and the choices of sausage were all very good. Pancakes. Perfect. Iced tea. Fresh brewed and perfect. What can I say? Everything we had was absolutely perfect. Very affordable. Probably the most affordable breakfast place around! Service. Let me say the staff greeted us on arrival and was very friendly. The waitress was able to offer suggestions and answered all of our questions. She came by a couple of times and asked how we found the place and let us know about the different areas of the city! She let us know about two festivals and how to easily travel to them. We learned a lot about the West Bank and the East Bank among other around. She suggested Gretna fest and Fried Chicken Festival. We were so lucky and took her up on those suggestions. Gretna Fest was absolutely amazing. Look it up if you get a chance. We will most likely be back next year just for that while stopping in at Leni's again! Definitely a solid breakfast! There is a lunch menu that looked good but we were there for breakfast. Definitely will be back and definitely recommended. 5 stars for the service the food and downright local vibe.

I mean Leni's is classic diner food. Idky it's called restaurant bc that feels too fancy--albeit accurate. It's good like NYC diner good, but here in New Orleans. That's no small feat in the land of craw this and oyster that poboy this and "ehtoufay" that. And all you tourists stop saying "new or-leans"...another lesson for another day. Anyway, I go to Leni'ss for lunch or brunch bc I work in the area. Mostly catering to a weekday work and school crowd, they have quick service for dine in or pick up, street and lot parking, some sort of OTB in the back. Cool place.

A few days ago, while on our way to Mammoth, we passed by a few police officers outside this joint. They highly recommended it. It is their go to joint. Wholesome fresh sandwiches of decent value. Great services and friendly staff. The waitress tells me the restaurant has been here since the sixties. It is frequented by all the locals.

Established in late 60's and taken over by current chef-owner in 1978, Lenis still stands in warehouse district with loyal following who had been having breakfast and lunch here for few decades. The oysters po boys are fresh and tasty, and streams of locals young and old crowd this joint in the morning everyday. For a taste of local New Orleans one should not miss what is good food and of good value and been long-standing in the community. For me as a food traveler, Leni serves up local flavours in non-pretentious settings and I get to experience local cuisine the way the real locals eat. Taste wise it's based on fresh ingredients and not spicy sauce. So if you are into burst of heavy flavours then help yourself to the hot sauce.
